Neck pain can be caused by numerous conditions involving different tissues and structures in the neck. Sometimes neck pain can be associated with nerve issues such as radiating pain, tingling and numbness in the arms and legs.
Neck pain can also be associated with cervico-genic headache, which is defined as pain at the base of the skull with or without radiation to forehead and eye. Most neck pain can be treated effectively by physical therapy.
Symptoms associated with neck pain may include:
- Muscle tightness
- Radiating pain
- Sensory issues in the upper or lower extremities
- Muscle weakness in the upper or lower extremities
